[Icom] IC-706 Power Cable

I've been following this thread for a while and it never dawned on me that
that is exactly what I've done. I went to the local Radio Shack and found
a heavy duty molex rated for 30-40 amps and created pigtails both in the
car as well as in the shack. I'm sorry I didn't respond to this thread
sooner. This solution works and is much easier to obtain the
over-the-counter molex connectors than the one from ICOM.

How about bypassing the molex connector altoghter?
Leave the factory connector permanently attached to the radio, and
install something like Anderson Powerpoles inline after the fuses. This
way all you have to do is simply find a spare piece of comparable wire
and put powerpoles on it.
This may not meet your needs, but it adds flexibility in a great way.
The powerpoles become the standard connector for radio this way, and not
an expensive factory replacement. Saves wear and tear on the factory
connector too.
