Victor,
Great catching up with you on the reflector after the
QSO we had a couple of months ago on 17m! Tks fr the
colourful QSL card.
While, it is going to be pretty difficult to diagnose
the problem with the symptoms you described, I dont
think you have blown the front end. IC 751 is an
absolute workhorse. I have had a 751A and loved it. I
used to have a neighbour who was located 400m from
where I was and never had a problem even once.
I should say that the bands are pretty noisy. The
noise at my end is close to 58 on all bands with very
frequent static crashes that peak upto 20dB lasting a
couple of minutes. Eventhough 40m is just as noisy,
the signals from the Dx stations are just as strong.
Do you get the noise without the antenna/coax
connected? Try on 10m and see if the noise persists.
10 m at my end is a bit quieter. I still feel it is
the atmospheric noise because of the thunder storms.
Catch you again
