Dick wonder if you can help with a problem or know someone who can??

I have a problem with the Icom 751A Will explain and maybe you can help or
know someone who can. It's been raining here for the last few days heavy
rain from a storm in the North West Pacific we had a few lightening strikes
near us but I had the radio disconnected during this time.

When I turn the radio on all I get is a high 57 to 59 Static noise when I'm
on the KT34 M2 antenna (4 elements) an also on the R7 Vertical Antenna.

When I switch the antenna switch to a coax line going out to a G5 RV
antenna the noise drops down to 0 and I can get and hear some stations on
the bands but very weak on this coax.

I just notice that I had cut this coax near the wire centre insulator of
the G5RV antenna. It came down during the storm and was in the way. So what
I have is just coax and the Twin lead up to this point. I though it might
be noise coming from the power line that might have got wet during the rain
storm or a Transformer near by.

The noise is so loud on the Beam and vertical that can not hear anyone
unless they are 59 +

There was a Ham staying down at the A frames near the beach for a Week
operating but do not think he blew my front end on the Icom 751A receiver??

I know that if someone is on the same band at the same time and are close
by this can happen and the front end of the receiver can blow.

Anyway if you have an Icom Service centre near maybe you can ask them about
my problem and what I should try. Now that I'm caught up on the QSL work
would be nice to get back on the air. Jim ZK1JD is in New Zealand for a few
weeks so do not have another rig I can try to see if it is the Icom 751
giving me the problem.

Maybe it is just the bands???

73's and Regards
