One of the most important considerations with the 207 is that it is a "One 
Band At A Time" dual-bander.  You can't listen to a VHF and a UHF channel 
at the same time (or two VHF or two UHF channels) the way some other, more 
expensive, dual-banders can.  It also will not crossband repeat.  Icom 2720 
and Yaesu 8900 are top contenders that have those features.

That may not be important to you, in which case the 207 is a good 
candidate.  It's biggest demerit in my book is the fairly noisy fan that 
runs for a minute or so after every PTT (not a problem in a mobile).

Good points: plenty of memories, programs "like an Icom," good transmit audio.
