[Icom] ICOM ic756 screensaver?

Hi Tom,
Well, the radio's architecture provides no means for "installing" a
screen-saver. The screen images are hard-coded in firmware.
I guess it would be fairly easy to incorporate a timer in the Pro/Pro II's
operating system to dim the display and backlight after a preset idle time
(no front-panel activity). Icom might do this if sufficient demand existed
for such a feature. In the meantime, it is easy enough to set display
contrast and brightness to 40 ~ 50%.
Blanking the display is probably not a good idea. An IC-756Pro or Pro II
with traffic on the receiver, but a blank screen, would be somewhat
disconcerting.
I feel most honoured at your designation of me as a guru!
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Perhaps so (i.e., a 'puter screen saver with '756 images), but maybe the
thought of a display "saver" for the '756 series should be considered -
useful?, useless?, why bother?, MTBF of displays?. ...Need a guru's
thoughts on this. Adam??
