Subject: [Icom] IC706 PSU Probs
Hello all,
I have an ICOM IC706MKII and just wondering if anybody has had
problems with the in line fuses in the power cord. I was on holiday last
weekend and had trouble with my TX audio. I was getting RF power output =
Ok
but my audio was terrible from some reports. It was breaking up and =
sounded
if I had RF content on my audio.
Back home I did testing into a dummy load and on air and found that the
voltage at the rig (backprobed the Molex connector) was down to 12.1v =
and at
the PSU end it was 13.2. In addition to this, I find the fuses in both =
the
+ve and -ve leads are quite warm . I must be losing a few volts here. =
There
is no burning and all crimps look good. I am thinking of changing these =
for
Bulkhead 3AG holders like they are on my Kenwood gear.
It seems these rigs are very fussy on supply voltage and all turns to
custard when supply gets down below 12v. I am wondering how these rigs =
run
in a conest or field day operation with Gel cells.
Anybody had similar experiences like this?
