Hi Frank,

The "non-A" filter case is 6 mm taller than that of the "A" filter. This
applies to the FL-52/A, FL-53/A, FL-44/A etc.

The link to your IC-756 filter upgrade is on http://www.qsl.net/icom/

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Hi,

The FL-52 has a higher profile package, the footprint and pin-out is the
same but the case is slightly taller. In the newer radios the FL-52A is
almost always required due to the lower vertical clearance to the case.
Older radios such as the 740, etc. can use either, because they were
designed for more vertical clearance and as such will accept either profile
height.

The same applies to the FL-53 versus the FL-53A.

BTW, in the IC-756 there is just enough clearance to install the old "non-A"
filters. There are some pictures of an FL-53 installation I performed to my
IC-756 on Adam Farson's web site.
