Several people have asked which "version" my PW-1 is. Apparently there
were "A" and "B" verions. Apparently the A version didn't pass received
signals
unless the amp was fully turned on, and thus you had to have the amp on even
during periods of listening or running barefoot. There may have
also been some other improvements in the B version. Anyone have the serial
number
ranges of these?

Mine is apparently the later "B" version as evidenced by:

1. Listening works fine even with the amp OFF. The amp apparently gets
power from the rig for the antenna switch relays and a couple of LEDs on the
front panel that indicate band and input source. When you change band with
the rig (or control head), the antenna source follows [and is remembered].
Thus you can SWL
or run barefoot just fine with the amp off.

2. I received 2 faxes from Icom, through my dealer, with the 10M mod.
These
main board layouts were labeled "Board A" and "Board B", with slight
differences in component layout. Mine has the "B" main board layout. I
can supply both the faxes and a photo of my main board if desired, either by
email or fax.

Thanks for your interest! 73 - John, WA9ALS
