First, lets make sure that you have the AH-2 control cable,
(four pins), connected to the IC-746.  Then, make sure that
the control cable is connected properly at the AH-2. And
then, make sure the coax from the AH-2 is connected to Ant
One of the IC-746.  Now, the IC-746 detects the AH-2 being
connected to the four-pin socket, so the IC-746 bypasses its
internal auto-tuner, and operates the AH-2.  If your internal
tuner is running that means the IC-746 does not know the AH-2
is there.  Or worse case, the AH-2 is broke.  (The IC-746
detects the AH-2 by monitoring the current that goes to it.
I've been using the AH-2 and AH-4 for years.
