Hi Jim=0D
=0D
No problems whatsoever with the 746! My only 2=0D
nitpicks are SWR foldback is pretty dramatic and=0D
the deal with the Heil.I see Bob has a "Icom" =0D
element now, and can take elements and change=0D
them for around 45 bucks. I heard this from a guy=0D
who was running Mid Cars on 7258 and he was=0D
using his 746 and headset at the time, and really=0D
sounded good. Oh, one of the guys in our contest=0D
club runs a 746 and lives just a few miles from=0D
Bob Heil. He got one of the newer elements and=0D
said it really did a good job. Also, I bought an=0D
SM 20 for ragchewing, and it really does great.=0D
Of course, it wasn't cheap, but it was worth the=0D
money.=0D
=0D
Bottom line... I got a great deal and great radio=0D
from a great friend :-) =0D
=0D
Take care Jim...=0D

Bill, there are quite a few 3rd party interfaces available that=0D
work just as well for quite a bit less money. Mine for my=0D
746 is from W1GEE and was just a little bit over 40 bucks=0D
including shipping. There will probably be more replies=0D
from folks who have other brands or have built their own.=0D
As far as control programs go, I don't really know. I use=0D
mine to work with my logging programs.=0D
