Al,

All mine needed was an ARR preamp and now a great receiver. The front
end in those receivers was not too good. I've had mine since 1980.

Subject: [Icom] ICOM IC-245

The other day I was looking thru a 1977 QST and found a ICOM IC-245 that
was
advertised for around $400, big money back then and even now. I have an
old
IC-245 thats seems to need a tune-up. Well, you know, it needs some
attention. Anyone know the expert who fixes old radios like my 245 ? I
used
it for the local DX Packet Cluster for 13 years, nite and day. Never
missed a
beat until a couple months ago. Before that it was used for DX type
rag-chew
when we used to announce spots on 2 meters using voice. That must have
been
rhe so called good old days, HI !

thanks.
