[Icom] SM-6 mike

I picked up a used SM-6 mike a while back, and noticed that there is a
rotary switch/pot on the bottom, labeled L through H. Without an instruction
sheet, I can only guess what this is. Using this mike during the CQWW, some
ops would tell me to back off on my compression, even though I wasn't using
the compressor.

What is this switch/pot for, and does it control the voice quality? Mine is
set atbout three quarter scale towards high. Any info on this would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks too, to those who responded to the query about east coast service
centers. I haven't found anyone yet, but am still looking!
