Hi Bill, apparently that's the way it goes, saves the manufacturers a low
of $$$ and we get the parasitic drain on our electric meter and wallet,
here on Long Island the older analog style cable TV boxes drew 17 watts in
standby mode, the new I/O digital ones draw so much in standby mode they
have a cooling fan running 24/7, turn it off and you have to wait for the
long re-boot authorization process, can't win, Ken

product to UL. Since the PS is already listed. If you spend the $4000 to
get your AC product listed ( not approved) and then you make a small
change on your product I think you have to resubmit to UL all over again.
To avoid this problem back in the 70s most all the audio processor
companies went to wall warts. Once it was standardized,,,the Pacific Rim
started shipping,,, bingo low prices. bill
