[Icom] ICOM Service Center Problem

Hello All,

I sent my ICOM 706 MKII G for warranty repair to ICOM to correct a problem
where, when  I insert the center piece and start screwing on the shield, the
signal drops appreciably from maybe an S5 noise level to S1, if at all. My
antenna and coax is Ok. Tried the rig on my friends resonant antenna and
problem is there as well.

ICOM is returning the rig to me, saying that they tested it and it works fine.
I suggested they check SO-239 connector to make sure and they said it was
fine.

So my question is: what do I do now? I do believe them, but there definitely
is something wrong with the rig. Were the techs there just being lazy?

Any ideas?.
