I am not familiar with the 211 but I had the same thing with the channel
changing knob on my IC746. After it was on for a while it would only change
the memory channels in an increasing order, so I had to go thru all 100 chs.
to get back to the one I wanted. I'm sure yours is just with the vfo/encoder
knob but the fix might be the same as mine. Strange as it might seem, on
advice from Dan in Icom service, I checked the ribbon cables in the radio
and also looked for loose board mounting screws. No screws were loose but
the ribbon cable going to the memory ch/PBT board was inserted off kilter.
I carefully straightened the ribbon in the socket, reassembled the radio,
and the problem never appeared again. Also go to Icom Americas web site and
go into support and maint.&service ,then follow the directions and they have
a section that gives frequent problem areas and cures for the problems. You
might find yours. GL, Rick K8DXN
