Jim, I just read of this thread, so let me offer a warning. Your 989C can
take a lot more than can that PRO internal tuner. And it costs about as
much to replace the 989C as to repair the PRO.
Color me old-fashioned, but I would never run full power into anything
worse than a 3:1 low-reactance mismatch with the PRO internal tuner.
I have three manual tuners in the shack now - two 989C's and a Drake MN-4 -
and three rigs with internal automatic tuners. Except for the K2, I never
use the others - too risky with my antenna setup on all bands, etc.
