I run the same mic on my 775 and 781 the setting i use our as mic tone full
clock wise mic gain at just below 900 position comp should peak at 12 but not
over with compressor on most I do not, there have been just a few problems
with the ICM the screw at the base of the mic was too long and it holds the
mic cord in the base remove the screw and pull the cord out and see if the
screw has punch mic cable this was causing RF on my audio and was not always
present if you purchase it from dealer you may have one with too long of
screw and its touching the mic shield causing some bad audio in the way of RF
after i discovered this Heil confirmed they did have some shipped with bad
screws, Donna at heil will repair with anew cord and replace the screw. The
gain on the ICM is very touchy so a little mic gain change will make a huge
difference. After discovering this changes in my setting I have been getting
excellent audio reports, I use this also on my 781, Hope this helps discover
your frustrations on the mic. Because I have been very satisfied, settings on
the filters really make little difference in most of my testing but run it on
the wide mode.
