Yes the audio recovery is slighty better on the HF-1000 compared to the 
RX-340 and a lot better compared to all others, but that is for extremely 
weak AM stations that most listeners will not be trying for, just the hard 
core dxers... the overall  AM listening, distortion and ergonomics is better 
on the RX-340.   Besides the RX-340 is half the price of the HF-1000!
