I just have to find someone with one of those portable Tektronics scopes or
an IFR. Not easy to do here <grin>. It does, however, sound like it would
be an interesting excercise.
How about if I were to cover the entire computer module with aluminum foil.
Think that would make enough difference to see if it's the culprit?

It would be interesting to see the interfering signal on a scope. Since it
is not engine-speed dependent, I would suspect the vehicle's computer
module.
