In fact, same as my procedure except that I don't use AUTO.  I suspect
that Icom discovered people trying to setup the PW-1 while the logging
software was running -- this could certainly confuse things.

The 9600 baud was an arbitrary choice.  I just found that the PRO and
logging program interface worked better with a set speed rather than
AUTO.

The procedure does not explicitly mention setting the data rate to 9.6
kb/s,
but I have heard form other sources that the configuration will work
correctly at this speed.
