I'm not discouraging product reviews here on the Icom list, but for 
additional insight, try www.eham.net, and look in the product reviews 
section.  There are 18 user reviews on the V8000 there (sorry, I've never 
used one).

The quality of the information varies, and overall might not be quite as 
high as this list.  But you can usually figure out who knows what they're 
talking about (watching out for the guys who say "I bought the rig 
yesterday, and it's the best rig I've ever owned...").
