I will be giving up my IC-735 shortly. This fabulous radio has been with me
for well over 200,000 miles in my full size Dodge van.
I like the 735 due the ease of operation in the mobile... easy to read
(BIG!) dial and a button for each function... not like the newer radios
that have one button for everything.
Anyway, I'm taking delivery on a new Dodge pick-up truck.
While the passenger van had plenty of room for my 735 and vhf/uhf radio the
truck does not.
I'll be purchasing a 706 and will be looking for ways to mount the radio.
My questions: Any reason NOT to remote the unit? Seems like the best solution.
Anyone out there running the Dodge Truck /706 combo? I'd like to hear from
you off reflector.
Is the best way to run antenna wires under the chassis or under the liner?
I would suspect that under the chassis would subject the coax to a bit of
punishment.
