Icom America still has the old manual on there web site. My manual is
A-6072H-1EX and it has the old figures, 16V DC 2A. I use an external relay,
but what I am wondering is has there been other changes in the new manual
that should be of interest. Wish Icom could post changes to there manuals or
at least update there web site to reflect the changes.

Subject: RE: [Icom] Frozen Send relay - 756
Jim, Tony,
It is possible that Icom's techwriters changed the manual after the first
release. My IC-756Pro User Manual, Pub. No. A-6072H-1EX-(2), clearly states
0.5A on Page 18. To quote: "The specifications for the SEND relay are 16V
0.5A.
If this level is exceeded, a large external relay must be used." Also, on
Page
12, Item 10: "Max. control level: 16V DC/0.5A".
I do not quite comprehend the purpose of this debate. I cannot believe that
it
is an attempt to justify not using an auxiliary interface, in the face of
all
the evidence to the contrary (in the form of blown and welded internal
relays).
Further information, including a data sheet for the OMR-109F relay, is
available
on http://www.qsl.net/icom/auxrelay.html
I know of a case where an AL-80 damaged the internal relay. Use of an
interface
such as the Ameritron ARB-704, or an external relay, is strongly
recommended.
