Would not do any good, because these same guys don't read the manual, it 
gets tossed into the box after the rig comes out, and is never looked at again.

It states clearly "inside" the manual that the limit on the keying relay 
is; 16vdc @ 0.2 A = 200mA.  If the keying relay of the amp is drawing 300mA 
@ 12vdc, it is still out of range. Even at 5vdc. if the key voltage is 
24vdc @ 50mA, it is STILL out of range.

Use an "interface" relay, they are cheap, easy to make, and good insurance, 
just like he said.
