[Icom] 746 Audio

I have a standard IC746 that has CW signals sounding like there is AC in
them. It just came back from Icom, where they pronounced it 100%, but it
still sounds rotten. SSB sounds bad too, and some friends and I agree that
there is a problem. I have another 746 that is head and shoulders above this
one.

I am thinking about trading it (it is only 5 months old) toward a 746 PRO.
but there have been some comments on this reflector about the audio on the
PRO being bad too. I like the 746 design, and am comfortable with it. Has
anyone any comments on the PRO concerning the receiver portion?

I know I should consider the 756 pro, but that may be heyond my means at
present.
