Well put Bill. I just purchased a DSP rig and am anxious to put it
through its paces. Reading the manual, even several times over, is very
important to understanding the complex operations and functions of
todays equipment. I have seen several questions posted on these
reflectors that are in plain english, black and white print in the
manuals. I'm not blasting anyone as I myself have overlooked things and
when I find them I sometimes call myself a "big dummy" as ole Red
Foxx,of "Sanford and Son" would say. I'm glad the manufactures are
taking the "next step" and will show my support through purchases, even
if they are not perfect. Will that ever be achieved?, probably not,
especially in my lifetime. I enjoy reading the old handbooks and
magazines and seeing how radio has advanced. My equipment has changed a
lot from the plastic 5 tube broadcast radio, which I still have, and I
still enjoy radio despite some minor problems. Lets enjoy our freedom
and try to think and act positive with regard to our radios and write
letters to manufactures, not to flame, but with constructive criticism
and positive ideas and suggestions for improvement. I remember several
years ago at the Hamvention talking with an Icom rep from Japan and
suggesting more rigs with multi mode VHF and HF and I must not have been
the only one as he indicated others expressed similar wants and look
what we have now. Anyway my two cents, Rick Robinson. K8DXN.
