[Icom] Real story of 746 PRO receive audio

There have been several points of view aired recently on the IC746 PRO
receiverd audio.

I had been planning to order one of those things in the next week or so.
Now, I don't know what to so. Is the PRO audio typically good or bad? I have
two standard 746s, one with excellent received audio, the other one with
borderline passable audio. I can see little incentive in exchanging one bad
audio for another.

I know the ideal answer is getting a 756 PRO, but that is not an option
