I think your right Jack... Just pulled mine down and there is a
Communications specialists, Inc. SS-32M  Sub-Audible encoder in mine with
the dip switch cut into the back just above the switches of the radio...
Mine was done for me, so don't know much about it   Good Luck Ed... At least
you know it was done...
