Radio Shack has a capacitor that they sell as a alternator filter it
works in most cases

Some info- I have a buddy with the IC-2100 installed in a Honda suv.
His
receive is okay. Transmit is another story. Been trying to get him to
fix
it, but he is pretty lazy. Only hear the whine noise on transmit and
seems
to vary with the load on the battery, ac on, etc. His radio is directly
connected to the battery. I would also be interested if anyone with the
same
vehicle has had similiar problems and the resolutions. My 2001 Chevy
pickup
seems to be quiet running direct to the battery. 73, Dave NC6P
