Ya gotta jump in sometime.  At the risk of an off-topic police
scolding... the price of a good computer has always been $2k.
You get a better machine for the price every week you wait,
but you do without till you get it.

Radio is about the same.  There is a price to be paid for good
equipment.  Sure, you can wait for the price to come down.
And it will too.  Just about the time the "Latest greatest and
bestes" new one comes out.  So, do you wait some more for
the price of it to come down?  If ya got the $$$, and ya really
want it... what are you waiting for?  Ya only live once, and 
you're not even sure how long....
