I could do that in the 60s, but there isn't such a critter identifiable on
my '99 car. In fact, it's very difficult to ID anything on both sides!
Behind the fusebox there are obviously some wires going through the
firewall, but you can't get at it from either side to see or feel, much less
stick something through. On the passenger side, there is some sort of
portal thru which are some small guage wires - I think maybe they come from
the passenger's airbag. This thing isn't like any "grommet" I've ever
seen - rectangular black plastic whose center has clear plastic and some
sort of foam. It's all rigid, and no way it woulod come out easily. Maybe
I could've poked something through that thing, but I think I found a better
solution (below).

I finally found 3 bolts in a triangular configuration on the engine side -
looked inside, and it was obviously the mount for the accelerator. Above
and to the right of those bolts was in the clear on both sides, so I drilled
a pilot hole - no problemo. Then I enlarged it to 3/8 in. Now for a
grommet and/or some good goo!

Now for a mount on the middle hump - Someone recommended using a big nail
and punching through to avoid getting the drillbit snarled in the carpet.
Any comments on that? Any recommendations for a company that makes some of
those multi-positional mounts for a variety of radios? tnx - 73
