either way you need to run wires, if it were me, i would just drill another
hole in the firewall and run the wires through with a rubber grommet but I
don't know how you feel about that, I build racecars and that's how I do it
when I need to run wires for something. I suppose you could put a battery in
the trunk, but charging it you would still either have to run wires or take
it out and charge it out of the car a lot. That's just me though you can
make that hole in the firewall I mentioned before with out it even showing
if you ever take the radio out. It is very tough in these newer vehicles, I
know that's 1 reason my 706 MK II is used in the camper or in the house
mainly, don't want to put it mobile in any of the cars I ride in a lot.

Hi,
I would like to go mobile with my ICOM 706 MKIIG.Ideally I realize that
ideally I should hard wire the rig directly to the battery.I have "explored"
the firewall of my 2000 Taurus sedan and have conluded that getting the
harness to the battery appears to be no easy task.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions and "encouragement" anyone might
want to offer.

One thought that comes to mind would be the installation of an auxilliary
battery in the trunk.I would also welcome any thoughts regarding this.In
particular ideas for charging this battery etc.

Thank You and 73,

Bert W1DFU
