[Icom] IC-2KL Fan

Sean,
I had the same problem with my IC-2KL, and found an on-line supplier of a
direct replacement fan that is about $7.00. People who are interested can go

The primary difference between it, and the one I found in my amp, was how
the screws go through the fan body. The amp fan had counter sunk holes so
the screw heads were seated below the surface of the fan. The one I got is
not counter sunk, and the original screws ended up being too short to go all
the way through the new fan body. I remedied this by finding four shorter
screws and screwing the fan down by the mounting holes closest to the
chassis. The chassis is threaded and the screws fit nicely between the fins
of the heat sink (below chassis level under the fan when the amplifier is
upside-down).
I also wanted to replace the fans in the power supply, but never did find a
direct replacement. The power supply uses an open-frame model that has a
three-sided mounting arrangement, and all the fans I've seen are for square
bodied fans.
I have since sold my IC-2kl... so this is no longer an issue for me. But
there are probably others out there with noisy fans who can benefit from
this info.
