Sounds like it is time to retire the rig

Subject: [Icom] Repair of IC-900/901 Fiber Cable
Greetings,
I have a fiber optic cable for the IC-900/901 that passes light from one
end to the other (using a flashlight to test) but does not work when
plugged into the rig. Substituting a known good fiber cures the problem;
rig works 100%. Anyone else had this problem? Anyone know of a fix or how
to repair the cable? They are no longer available from Icom; last selling
price was $39.00 for a new one from Icom. Anyone have a fiber to sell? A
short one will suffice; do not need the longer cable.
BTW, the application is an IC-900, which does not allow the wire option
(instead of the fiber) that the 901 does.
Thanks,
