[Icom] Low power and Icom 706MKIIG

I know that the Original 706 and the MKII had problems
with a brief full power spike at the beginning of each
transmission, even when the power was reduced.  This
was detailed in the QST product review for the MKII. 
Has this problem been fixed in the MKIIG?  The QST
review said that it was "better".  Has anyone had any
experiences-good or bad-with running the MKIIG into a
10 watt 2 meter amp?
