Thanks for the replies everyone. You are saying exactly what I have 
experienced. I was afraid my radio was faulty. I went ahead and had my 
Alinco DR-610 repaired and reinstalled it. I like to be able to monitor 
vhf\uhf while having hf active also. Also settles worries about 
transmitting on hf and overloading the vhf side of the 706. Without an 
antenna attached to the 706 for vhf I assume this won't be a problem. I 
have my outbacker stealth and cushcraft 270m separated by about 3 feet so 
the Alinco should be OK also shouldn't it?
