[Icom] IC-706mkII problem---RESOLVED!

I used to use Cramolin on all sorts of connectors... the honeymoon ended
quickly however.
ANY residual Cramolin left will turn into a greenish goo that causes
more problems than it once solved. If left unchecked it collects dirt
and makes the goo all that much more evil. It will leach out into all
parts of the connector.
The method now is clean the connection with very little Cramolin on a
Q-Tip and then remove that with a Freon TF bath or alcohol.
A clean and DRY connection is a happy connection. You wouldn't wash
your hair and leave the shampoo in it... so rinse the Cramoline out!!
A better item to use than Cramolin is TWEEK (spelling) which I used to
find at guitar stores. Not sure if it is still carried or made.. but it
was a lot kinder to connections than Cramolin.
Rather than use this on Molex pins... you can often replace the aluminum
ones with either gold or multi point (trifuricated?) contacts.
Cramolin is a "get it going" product... once you know the problem, solve
it, not patch it.
