[Icom] IC-2410 Problem

.....I had the same problem. It's a microphone problem you can't solve
without replacing the micro. The PTT line comes out from it and it happens
for the internal transistor to become leaky and activate the line on its
own, putting the radio in transmit. It has to be that wai because the PTT
switch activates also a few internal functions and state cahnges in the
micro. Since anew microphone is anywhwere from $100 to$150 , I would suggest
bypassing the micro by connecting the PTT switch to the PTT line directly,
and giving up the microfeatures, of course, unless you have to have the tone
functions operative. I just left the U/D switches active. Didn't want to
spend half of what I spent for the radio on a microphone, especially when
it's a known weak link, and it can do it againg when in the mood.

I just acquired an IC-2410H, and noticed that if I plug microphone into
radio it will key up on it's own. I have checked the functionality of the
PTT switch, it is fine. The microphone is an IC-HM 56A, and has a
microprocessor in it. I have reset the radio, and mic, still keys up all the
time. If anyone on the list has any ideas of what the problem is, I would be
very grateful. Mark M. Smith, W4MMS
