If you don't have one. I would run a ground strap from the base of the=0D
antenna to the body of the car. Make sure the body is bonded to the engin=
e=0D
block. I need to do that to my pickup truck. You can find a lot of info a=

Hi all, I have an IC-706MKIIG running mobile with a Hustler on a mag-moun=
t=0D
on the trunk of my car. It's been fine with the 17 meter resonator, but I=
=0D
just tried it with the 20 meter resonator and after a couple of seconds o=
f=0D
PTT down, the radio powers down completely. The SWR is low, so my only gu=
ess=0D
is that I'm getting some stray RF floating around inside the car. The=0D
troubleshooting section of the manual doesn't show anything for spontanio=
us=0D
shutdown like this.=0D
=0D
I don't want to damage the radio and I'm not sure what to do about it. Th=
e=0D
instruction manual doesn't say anything about grounding the radio in a=0D
mobile installation, so it's just floating. I also don't believe the shie=
ld=0D
side of the hustler is grounded - the mag-mount is covered with rubber to=
=0D
protect the car's paint. Could one of both of these cause trouble? Has ou=
t=0D
there anyone experienced this problem?=0D
