Edgar,

I called Icom and they FAXed a schematic to me. As well as the cable wiring info.
it's as follows:

Wiring the SM-8 cable to an 8-pin mike connector: (For Ic-765 and IC-718)
Pin:    Wire:         Function:
1        wht            Audio-In
2        blk             +8V
3        blu             Up/Dn
4        nc(not connected)
5        red             PTT
6        brn             PTT-Return
7        shield         Audio-In-Return
8        nc(not connected)

IC-765 set level to LOW
IC-718 set level to LOW

I have a schematic for the SM-8.  I got it from Icom, I'm sure they would
fax or mail you one. Failing that I could try to photoigraph it and email it
yo you.
