http://www.icomamerica.com/support/documents/pw1-756.html says
1. connect your CT-17 to your PC (with a standard serial port cable)
2. connect your transceiver to CT17 output 1 (a CI-V bus connection)
3. connect your PW-1 to CT-17 output 2 (a CI-V bus connection)
I believe that these two CT17 outputs convey the same CI-V bus signal --
effectively creating a Y-connector -- but will defer to someone with a
CT17 schematic. The PW-1 changes frequency by capturing the CI-V
messages sent by the transceiver when it QSYs.
The CI-V bus is simple open-collector TTL, and the protocol includes
collision detection. Its designed to support multiple transceivers,
though in this application the PW-1 is a passive monitor.

Hi Dave - that was my understanding, too, but it won't work. The PW-1
requires a serial data cable as well as the Icom rig and it MUST go
through a CT-17, or equivalent, or the computer or the PW-1 won't
change frequency. If you are in doubt, go to www.icomamerica.com and
click on "support" and then either "technical bulletins" or "FAQ's".
