Dave,
The simplest antenna you can have is a random wire
tuned with an AH4. Works very well. Take these words
from a marine biologist! ;-)
A vertical works pretty well too.
I have a MKII and an AH4 combo, which I run on a
random wire when MM

Am going on a cruise aboard a 38 foot sailboat for 10
days; have an Icom 706MKII; what to bring for an
antenna? Can tap onto deep cell marine Batteries for
power, just need advice re a simple HF antenna???
Short time before I depart. Simple suggestions much
