[Icom] Cordless Headset/Mic

Since Greg Ordy's first posting about using an IBM 3330 cordless telephone
for remote voice operation of radios using VOX, several of us have gotten
these and found them to work very well. Unfortunately, the 3330 appears to
be a discontinued product.

In CompUSA to day, I noticed a wireless headset/mic by Logictrol (no model
name or number, just wireless headset) operating on 900 MHz that looks like
it might do just as well. It has jacks for plugging in cables from a
soundcard just like the 3330. The remote unit has a noise-cancelling boom
mic and what appears to be a phone jack for external earphones if desired.

Assuming that the unit works as well as the 3330, the good news is that the
price at CompUSA is only $69.99, about half of what I paid for my 3330. Be
aware, though, that this has no telephone features or capabilities, such as
a touchtone pad which the 3330 has and which can be used for remote control
operations.

So, if anyone is intent upon remote operation and is willing to take the
plunge, they might get one of these and report back on how well it works.
And, if it doesn't, you can always return it!
