Neil,
I purchased the 528E new a couple of years ago. It's an excellent unit,
doesn't suffer from RF infiltration and really does the job in processing
the audio properly. I have been considering picking up a second one for
another operating station. Maybe this will happen, but for now I would like
to just move it over and try it with the SM7 on the IC 781. What's really
nice about it is the fact that a rig running good SSB filtering at say 2.1
to 2.4 KHz BW will sound very smooth. No need to run the transmitter wide
open with wide filtering. I really hate the so called "hi fi" SSB. It
sounds so pushed, almost constipated. The distortion off to sides is very
upsetting. You don't get this with the voice processor and correct SSB
filtering down at the narrower BW.
Now I am going to duck down.
