[Icom] On behalf of Jerry - potential PRO user

I received the following questions from Jerry - Even if you can't
compare directly with a 1000MP, I think Jerry would welcome more input
than I can give him about the PROII (or PROI).

So would some of you sophisticated users of the PRO line give Jerry some
feedback to his questions to complement what I could tell him? THANKS!

Here's Jerry's post - Please reply directly to him at
[email protected] -and- to this list if you think your comments are
appropriate for the list. Be sure to send directly to Jerry though,
because I don't think he's a subscriber to this list.

Good Morning,

From what I have gathered from email, you have used both the Yaesu
FT1000mp and the Icom 756Pro II. I have used the FT1000mp for several
years
now and really like it. But newer technology seems very attractive. I am

going to buy either an IC756Pro II or FT1000mp Mark V in several months.

Would you provide some user feedback. We both use rtty quite a lot.

Is the spectrum scope useful? Can you pick out a better frequency to
call
CQ on during a contest, for example? How do you use it during a contest
for
example? Is the spectrum sweep centered on either vfo or only the main?

I assume the Dual Watch is like the Dual function on the FT1000mp. But
does
DSP apply to the sub-band? So that unlike the FT1000mp you can get good
filtering. Also it appears that the single tuning knob tunes both vfos.
Is
this controlled by the Main/Sub button? And is it convenient? Or do you
turn the wrong vfo in the heat of battle?

Are the DSP filters adequate? How do they compare to the FT1000mp? I
have
all available filters in the FT1000mp

Would you buy the Icom IC 756ProII again?

Thanks for any insight
