Hi Don.  The areas you might look at in the receive path that are unique to the
AM mode include the Am detector diode D151,  transistor Q83.  The .1 uf
C288 coming off the emitter of Q83 may be bad also.  If you have access to a
scope,  check for detected audio at pin 8 of U15.  If not there, backtrack to the
emitter of Q83. 

All of this is on the MAIN unit circuit board.
