The meter on the PW-1 does not read PEP so the behavior you describe is
normal.

The baud rate is fixed at 9600. After reading the replies I got on the
reflector, I essentially ignored the extra warning page that came with
the PW1 and hooked it up according to the tech notes on the web site. It
seems to follow the frequency shifts fine. My guess is Icom got tired of
support questions and just decided to say "don't do it".
The only problem I have now is that after doing everything according to
the manual, including adjusting the ALC to get 1KW at the prescribed ALC
setting on CW, I find that when talking on SSB I can get no more than
400 to 500 watts. Did you have this problem?
