Charlie: Neglected to mention this in my last post, but it is unlikely to be
a problem in your vehicle. Watch out for imbedded electronics in the roof.
Some newer vehicles have GPS antennas, ON-STAR antennas/wiring, XM Radio
stuff mointed in, on or near the roof. Suggest checking intended location
with a mag mount for interaction if you have any of this stuff in your
vehicle.
BTW, In a Chrysler bulletin, they recommend taking power from the cigarette
lighter circuit for FM mobiles up to 50 watts and SSB/CW radios up to 100
watts(a footnote here says that Mercedes does not agree and they want you to
go to the Battery), NOT fusing the ground (minus) wire, and grounding the
minus wire near the radio, NOT the battery. I am not agreeing or
disagreeing, just passing along. If you know where Chrysler has been putting
their batteries the past few years, you wouldn't want to go there
either. --Mike
