Descriptions of the IC-2720 and the IC-T90 , as well as Yaesu's new
FT-897, have been available here in the USA on Universal Radio's web
site for a while now.

These are models that are definitely being marketed for North America.
There has been no word from Icom, from official or unofficial sources,
about the IC-703 or the IC-R5. Keep in mind that not all models sold in
Japan find their way into other markets.=20
For example, the IC-703 is really nothing more than a low power version
of the IC-706, less the VHF/UHF bands. This could quite possibly, and
actually most likely, be a unit for the Japan market only. Similar
low-powered versions of other models have appeared there over the years,
because one popular class of amateur radio license in Japan only allows
low power operation on the HF bands. License holders of that class are
limited to 10 watts or less, but I could be mistaken on the exact power
output figure.
