Hello Charlie,
I have a friend that has a 2002 DeVille. If your car has the
transmission shifter on the column then this installation description may
work for you. We installed a Yaesu FT-7100M and an NMO mount antenna on the
trunk. I know that the roof is the "preemo" location but for ease of
installation (and cheaper to fill if you needed to) we popped the 3/4" hole
in the center of the trunk lid. I used the Larsen NMO kit (model# NMO-K
$15.99 at AES). Also, I'm pretty sure that the battery and the fuse block
are under the rear seat (you might want to check the manual on that). We put
the radio chassis under the rear seat and ran the control head cable and
external speaker cable under the rug to the front. The control head sits on
the "hump" in the front. We used 2 small homemade brackets each having a 45
degree angle to look at the display with no problem.

In your case you'll need to pull 3 cables: 1: Control head; 2: microphone;
and 3: external speaker. I made a small slit in the rug for the control head
cable. You can pick up a small speaker (like an Icom SP-10) and put it under
the right front seat facing out. There should be a "shelf" just under the
front seat that the speaker can sit in. You can use velcro or double stick
tape to keep it in place.

If you have the transmission shifter on the floor then the only other place
that the display may work is somewhere in front of the shifter. I believe
there is a "cubby hole" that you put CD's, etc. into. That would be a good
spot for the control head. The most difficult part is locating the control
head. Everything else is a piece of cake.
If you have any questions feel free to ask. Otherwise, Good Luck!!

73,
Hector-KB2RPJ
